Boulders are a larger version of cobbles. Usually, boulders are somewhat rounded or otherwise uniquely shaped by abrasion in the course of river or glacial transportation. Boulders may also vary due to distinctive processes of weathering. Generally, boulders are too heavy to be lifted readily by hand.

Naturally formed and smoothed, Glacier boulders have inclusions that wind and twist their way through the rock.
Naturally smoothed by the river, Alpine boulders are typically uniform in color, often described as salt and pepper.
Exclusive to Arbor Rock from Stagecoach rd, these boulders are brick-red dolomite with a gray patina. They show a unique water wear texture much akin to the texture waves leave on the shore.
MOSS ROCK GRANITE
A living surface is present on these boulders as lichen love them. Greens, yellows, vibrant oranges, a rainbow of color is possible with lichen.
Eye-catching, very pleasing mix of complimentary bright colors having some reds, browns, dark blues, oranges, greens, tans, blacks, and yellows.
